Niantic have been busy bees with Pokemon Go in the run up to Christmas.

It was announced on December 15th that the legendary Ground-Type Pokemon Groudon will be appearing in Raid battles, but that seems to be the tip of the iceberg for new content this Christmas.

The new Pokemon Go EX Raid passes have been sent out to a selection of different people, while providing the usual 45-minute windows.

It’s expected that these new Raids will include MewTwo as the opponent, although the Pokemon Go Hub team have raised the possibility of another boss taking its place.

“We have no information on whether Delibird will be making an appearance for the raid, but we sincerely hope not, Releasing Delibird via the EX Raid system would be basically be the same like having Grinch steal your presents for Christmas and tossing them in a furnace in front of you.”

PoGo Hub report

The new Pokemon Go Christmas event is expected to be announced in the coming days and will likely shed light on what could be released next.

Dataminers have been busy digging around in the game– They have found moves connected to one of Pokemon’s more obscure Pocket Monsters Delibird.

Delibird is a Gen 2 Pokemon that has one very unique move; it’s signature Present, allows for special items in its tail that can cause damage or heal its opponent.

With potential issues incorporating the mechanic into the gameplay it will be interesting to see how the battle system works with this particular Pokemon.

However, dataminers say the Present move was part of a recent Pokemon Go update, leading many to believe it could be launched as part of a new Christmas event.

Niantic have confirmed that they will be launching a Holiday celebration this year, which they hope to make bigger and better than in 2016.

An array of Pokemon were available to catch at increased rates, as well as new bonuses to grab and boxes to buy with Pokecoins.

It’s expected that will see the return of the Festive boxes, as well as a special Pikachu, but fans are also hoping that some new Gen 3 Pocket Monsters will also appear.
