Hugh Jackman has spoken out on rumours he could return for Avengers Infinity War’s sequel, Avengers 4 as Wolverine.
Jackman has played the X-Men superhero in nine movies across three trilogies and bowed out earlier this year in Logan.
However Jackman admitted he would consider returning as Wolverine if he could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside the Avengers.
The 49-year-old Australian has spoken out on the idea, during an interview for his new movie, The Greatest Showman.
“It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together.
“And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head.
“But it was like, ‘Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,’ and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline, it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously, I was like, ‘Hang on!’
“But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”
Jackman has thrown a name into the hat which would go down very well with the majority of fans;
“He’s younger than me for sure, I think Tom Hardy would be a great Wolverine.”

Hardy is currently playing Venom in Sony’s MCU Spider-Man spin-off universe. But if Josh Brolin can be both Thanos and Cable, then why the hell not?
